DT Prospects and more

Sanders_fan89 did a good post about the DT position and the prospects in the next draft.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if Polian does the usual and drafts someone we would have never expected.

What other positions/players could you see Polian taking in the draft?

Alphonso Smith, CB - Wake Forest

Victor Harris, CB - Virginia Tech

Both of the cornerbacks are ideal fits for the Cover-2 scheme.  More scouts are high on Harris (probably due to size) although Smith has much better numbers this year and in this career.  Smith could fall to us in the 2nd but Harris could go late 1st or early 2nd round.

Max Unger, OL - Oregon

Max has played every position on the Oregon offensive line in his career as a Duck.  He also seems to be a very intelligent player.  He's a Mudd type of lineman and if Ugoh/Johnson don't show significant improvement I wouldn't be surprised to see Polian keep rebuilding the depth of this line.  He's a first rounder and could end up top 15 or 20 depending on what underclassmen declare.

Jarett Dillard, WR - Rice

Dillard is not blessed size or an outstanding 40 time.  He has put up some huge numbers and is a very sharp route runner.  He currently leads the nation with 14 TDs and has 5 NCAA receiving records.  He could probably be had in the third round.

Personally, I think we miss out on Unger in the first and grab a DT(I like Jerry).  We could then go with Smith in the 2nd and Dillard in the 3rd.

Anyone else have any prospects that you believe could be a good fit for the Colts?

Sim Leagues

I know several users on here are already a part of Goal Line Blitz but how many have heard of My Football Sim?  Maybe we could get enough teams together from Colts fans and form a league.

I am also looking for something more like this:  http://boards.buffalobills.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16

Does anyone know of an NFL GM Sim league similar to the above?  If not, would anyone be interested in forming a league?

Romo out

It looks like the beating that Romo took yesterday left him with a broken finger.  He should miss about 4 games.  Brad Johnson will take over at QB.  Owens can't be thrilled and Phillips may be gone.

I never cheer for a player to go down but it's nice to see Dallas having problems.  It's going to be a good week down here in Texas.  We stomp Baltimore and Dallas loses.  I'm already enjoying rubbing it in to the co-workers.

Forget Peavy, how about

some other young pitchers that won't cost as much.  We are still rebuilding so there's no need to mortgage the farm system to win now.

Names to consider that would come cheaper than Jake:

Zach Greinke - offer Frenchy and Medlen

Jeff Niemann - offer Flowers and Owings

Jeremy Sowers - had a bad year so could get him cheap

Ian Snell - once again, bad season makes him slightly cheaper

I know these trade values are probably way off, but they are all cheaper than Peavy.  Who would you want?

another possibility

As of right now we are still sitting with the 6th pick of next year's amateur draft.  That number could change depending on the Pedro Alvarez/Eric Hosmer situation.  If Alvarez goes back into the draft pool next season do we take the Boras client?

Another name moving up draft boards is Mike Minor, LHP from Vanderbilt.  He went 3-0 with an ERA of .64 this summer.  He looks to be Vandy's ace this upcoming season and could post Price-like numbers.  Depending on how we finish the season, Minor could fall to us.

my ruminations

With Young out, the Titans will be a better team.  We've known this for a long time and now an injury has forced Tennessee to turn to his better QB, albeit Kerry Collins...

Here's to hoping we can stop the run next week.  If not, Adrian Peterson will look like Jones-Drew circa 2006.  Of course we did go on to win it all so...

Houston disappointed me.  I knew Jacksonville would flop but I believed the Texans were ready to step up and contend for a wild-card spot.  Maybe Pittsburgh is just that good...

I hate to see Brady go down and wish him a speedy and complete recovery...

I'm glad to see Delhomme get that TD to beat SD at the end of the game.  I also wonder how many people are currently looking on their fantasy league's waiver wire for Dante Rosario...

AFL - Mesa Solar Sox

The rosters are being set and there could still be some changes.  Here is who we have designated to play in the Fall League as of right now.

Hanson, Marek, Heath, Medlen, Flowers, Pope, and Brandon Jones.  I believe the rules prohibit more than 1 player below AA to play and Tyler Flowers fits that bill.  My guess is that Heyward will make his debut in Arizona Fall League next season.

Fantasy Football

I know a bunch of people weren't able to make it into the Stampede Blue Fantasy Football leagues.  I was somehow lucky enough and am looking forward to the season.

However, I am also in another league on Fleaflicker that is a keeper league.  We currently have two openings and the open teams have players such as Brady, Tomlinson, and Peterson.  If you would like to takeover one of these teams, please let me know your email address and I'll shoot you over an invite.

Fantasy Football

Just wanted to put this out there..  I am in an online keeper league (using Fleaflicker) and we have 2 openings for teams this season.  We need to get these filled ASAP so we can get the rosters reset and a draft date scheduled.  One of the teams has Tomlinson and Brady while the other has Peterson.  Please let me know your email address if you're interested in playing and I'll send you a league invite.

Thank you.

Direction?

So it looks like we'll get a top 10 pick in the draft next season.  Although some are calling it a weak draft class there is definitely some good looking prospects.

Here are some options:

Grant Green:  USC SS, Can he play 3B?  He's been lighting up the Cape Cod league.  He is a 5-tool player but may not make it out of the top 3 players picked.

Alex White: UNC RHP.  Good movement on a 96 mph fastball.  Shouldn't take too long to reach the majors.  May not make it out of the top 5.

Strasburg and Ackley won't make it to our pick.

Aaron Crow?  He didn't sign with the Nats and should spend little time in the minors once drafted next season.

If we go with a High Schooler we could take the local kid Tate.  Do we really want to spend another 1st rounder on an OF though?  There's also Givens (SS) and Purke (LHP).

A good writeup on prospects can be found here.

What direction should we go???
