If you still feel optimistic...
...about this season, you my friend, are a delusional nutbar. The Colts, even if they do make the playoffs via a wildcard spot, aren't going to be worth a shit in the playoffs. This is the worst Colts team I've seen in a long time. I'm the last person who is going to come on here and make a rant about the world ending, but it's time to face reality, the Colts suck this year.
I'm going to watch and pray they win each week but my expectations just flew out the window. It's almost a blessing really because if they do start to turn things around and start to play excellent, it'll be more exciting than in previous years. Oh well, go Giants?

What
an
idiot
How many times does someone need to be pulled over for the same crap until everyone learns not to do it? What is so hard about not driving while smoking dope, honestly? Personally find this story hilarious. I could care less about the Steelers, much less about an overrated wide receiver but my god. Oh well, enjoy your suspension moron.

MVP of the quarter
I got to thinking while I was bored at work and tried figuring out who could be labelled the unofficial MVP during the first quarter of the 08-09 season. To make it Colts related as well, I'd like to see your opinion on who is the MVP for the Colts during the first quarter as well.
League MVP:
I have two people in mind. Oddly enough, both of them reside within the same division; arguably the best division in the NFL at the moment. They are both QBs, playing on the two best teams in their respective division. Who are they?
Eli Manning and Jason Campbell.
I'll start with Manning first. Eli has played nearly perfect in the Giants first 4 games, and in doing so, he has lead the defending champs to a perfect 4-0 record in this young 2008 season. I swear to god that winning the Super Bowl was (obviously) the best thing to ever happen to Eli's career. He's progressed and improved so much from where he was last year at this time it's mind-boggling.
Pretty much everything I just said about Eli can be said about Jason. However, the one thing Jason has over Eli at the moment is this little gem: Out of 153 pass attempts, Jason Campbell has zero, I repeat, zero interceptions. This tells me he is playing smarter and gaining chemistry with his receivers and the rest of his team despite having to deal with multiple head coaching changes, and multiple offensive coordinator changes. Impressive indeed.
Just for the hell of it, I'm going to name my rookie of the year. I think it's fairly obvious that Matt Forte is the clear cut rookie of the year. He's practically the entire Bears offense and blows Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson out of the water (not that it would be too hard to show up Cedric Benson).
Now then, the MVP for the Colts. This is a really hard decision, but after a while of thinking about some of the good plays, and some of the bad plays this season, I started to get a migrane and decided that my default answer would just be the Special Teams. They're the most improved, and most consistent thing the Colts have going, so there.
Your turn.

Food for thought
Little backstory:
I was reading some posts over at colts.com and something intriguing came up. Someone mentioned that if Cassel has a good year for the Patriots, winning at least 10 games and not making many mistakes, that the Patriots would cut Brady.
Now I'm sure at first thought you are laughing out loud, and so was I. But if you really think about it for a minute, it's really not out of the realm of possiblity. Brady isn't going to be "Brady" next season. Look at what happened to McNabb. They guy is a haus, but it took him over a year just to get in the flow of things and become productive again. He looks like the McNabb of old at the moment. But do you think Belichick would be willing to keep Brady and pay him a ton of money all the while knowing it may be a while before Brady is up to snuff? The thing that also persuaded me to think that it's possible is some of the questionable moves Belichick has made in the past. Cutting Lawyer Milloy, letting Vinatieri walk, same with Asante Samuel.
Anyways, it's something to think about, and something that is worthy of discussion whether it's purely hypothetical or not.

Let the countdown to Vince Young's retirement begin.
Sorry but this is one of the most hilarious things I've ever read:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-titans-young&prov=ap&type=lgns
I don't really have much else to say other than VY needs to grow a pair and take it like a man. That or just do the rest of us a favor and retire already.

Why hasn't anyone else reported this?
Did anyone else know Dallas Clark had an MRI done on his knee he injured against the Bears? I actually found out about it through my yahoo fantasy league. Here's a full article on the situation:

Welp...Merriman is done for the year
Someone must have knocked some sense into him because he decided to undergo surgery to repair the torn ligaments in his knee that 4 doctors advised him to do a while ago. Apparently he's been playing with this injury since December of last year, playing through the playoffs with it. Common sense would tell you that if he had gone through the surgery in late January or early February he might have even been back in time for the playoffs this season (if the Chargers even make it). But what do I know right? Merriman is the smartest man alive!
AFC star players are dropping like flies. Brady blows his knee out, Vince Young tear his MCL (allegedly) and goes nuts because he realizes he sucks at football, and now Merriman is gone; even though he should have never even attempted to play this season. Go Colts?
