Seymour added to active roster; Santonio Thomas out

The New England Patriots on Saturday named defensive end Richard Seymour to the active roster. That move follows Thursday's release of defensive lineman Santonio Thomas, which freed up a roster spot.

Thomas, who cleared waivers, may return to the Patriots practice squad.

Since Seymour was not active earlier this week, he is not listed on any of the Patriots injury reports; and while he was at practice, reports of his participation were vague. I wouldn't hold out hope that he will play tomorrow against Washington.

The addition of Seymour also ends speculation that the team would activate defensive back and special teamer Eddie Jackson, who could play in place of the injured Mel Mitchell.
