Eight Players on PUP
Seymour, Brown, Jackson Headline List

The New England Patriots open training camp Friday, and eight players will start the preseason on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who started last preseason on the PUP but played all 16 regular season games, tops the list. Other notables include wide receivers Troy Brown and oft-injured 2006 rookie Chad Jackson. Brown and Jackson both had offseason knee surgery.

Jackson's classmate tight end David Thomas (broken foot) and 2007 rookie running back Justise Hairston are also on the list with cornerback Eddie Jackson (also returning from knee surgery), safety Mel Mitchell and wide receiver Kelley Washington.

Notables not on the list include linebacker Tedy Bruschi, safety Rodney Harrison and running back Laurence Maroney, who had offseason shoulder surgery. Bruschi had surgery on the wrist he broke and on which he had subsequent surgery last preseason.
