First Half Notes: Week 8 (Patriots vs. Vikings)

A few quick thoughts at the end of the first half:

  • The Patriots defense has looked alright to this point.  They've been allowing the underneath throws, but have taken away the deep throws over the top (and have blanked Randy Moss to this point).  Of course, the big 3rd and one stop was big in the first quarter.  And at the end of the half, the goal line stop was HUGE.  And while the Patriots have stepped up when it matters, I'd like to see them slow down Adrian Peterson on first and second downs, and force Brett Favre to throw down the field in 3rd and long situations.
  • The Patriots have also looked pretty conservative on offense.  Minnesota has shut down BenJarvus Green-Ellis on the ground, and have forced the Patriots to mostly underneath throws.
  • This game has a similar feel to the Chargers game from last week.  Hopefully the Patriots can get something going on offense and ultimately pull this game out.
