Week 16 Game Thread #3: Patriots at Bills

First half notes as the Patriots lead the Bills 24-3:

  • Things didn't start out well for the Patriots defense, as the Bills marched down the field on the opening drive, utilizing the ground attack of Fred Jackson as their primary means of offense as they got a field goal to go up 3-0.
  •  However, the Patriots did turn things around defensively, forcing two turnovers and playing solid pass coverage aided by some jarring hits from Brandon Meriweather and Jerod Mayo.  The first turnover was a strip-sack by Gary Guyton recovered by Mayo.  The second was an interception by Pat Chung, which was converted into points by the Patriots offense.
  • Offensively, the Patriots have been balanced and solid.  Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis have both had excellent games.  Woodhead got the payoff with a long touchdown run.
  • In the passing attack, Brady is 8-15 with two touchdowns, each to a tight end (Rob Gronkowski and Alge Crumpler).  He has been hurt by a few drops, specifically two by Wes Welker that stalled a second quarter drive in the red zone.  Other than that, Brady has looked pretty sharp, despite battling flu symptoms all week.
