With the 62nd pick in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Brandon Spikes, inside linebacker, Florida.
This looks like a great pick for the Patriots. Spikes, as a rookie, can jump in and start immediately as the strong inside linebacker. He can play first and second downs, with Gary Guyton coming in on sub-packages and passing situations. By playing the SILB, and taking on blocks, this pick will also free Jerod Mayo to move back to weak inside linebacker, which will really maximize his skill set.
