While much isn't known about Bill Belichick's contract as head coach of the New England Patriots, we do now know that he is the highest paid coach in all of professional football, with an annual salary of $7.5 million. This number, which comes from a Forbes article on the highest paid coaches in professional sports, puts Belichick at number two among all head coaches in professional sports.
Obviously, Bill Belichick has done enough to deserve this number. With three Super Bowls since taking over the Patriots, there is no question that Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches in NFL history, and his salary isn't the least bit surprising. If Belichick can return this Patriots team, considering all of the turnover he's had on the defensive team, and bring the franchise another Super Bowl title, he could very well go down as the best.
Following Belichick, the next highest paid head coaches in the NFL are Mike Shanahan and Pete Carroll, who have annual salaries of $7 million. Jeff Fisher comes in fourth with a salary of $5.75 million.
