Today, the Patriots announced the signing of two more rookies, seventh round picks Kade Weston and Zac Robinson:
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today the signing of seventh-round draft choices DL Kade Weston and QB Zac Robinson. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. Weston and Robinson are the seventh and eighth members of New England's 12 2010 draft choices to sign with the team.
Weston, a defensive lineman from Georgia, was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 248th selection overall.
Robinson, a quarterback from Oklahoma State, was selected by the Patriots in the seventh-round of the 2010 NFL Draft with the 250th selection overall.
Weston, at 6'5" 315 lbs, is a candidate to compete for a roster spot along the defensive line. A big body, Weston can play defensive end or nose tackle in the Patriots 3-4. He is also a likely practice squad candidate.
Robinson was a star at OSU, and has the chance to make the roster spot as a backup quarterback. Robinson, who played out of the spread system at OSU, is also a top practice squad candidate, should he not secure a roster spot.
The signings bring the Patriots up to eight total rookies signed, with just four remaining. Left to be signed are second rounders Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Spikes, and Jermaine Cunningham, as well as first round pick Devin McCourty. The Patriots have been in discussions with McCourty and his agent, and are optimistic to have a deal done when training camp starts next week.
