The Patriots have made another roster move today, releasing offensive lineman Quinn Ojinaka and signing running back Thomas Clayton to the active roster.
Ojinaka was acquired back in August via trade from the Falcons. After serving a one game suspension, Ojinaka moved to the active roster week two, but was inactive both games for the Patriots. With offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger being promoted from the practice squad to the active roster yesterday, there really wasn't a need to keep Ojinaka around. No word yet on whether the Patriots will still give up a draft pick for Ojinaka, but my guess is that they will not.
The Thomas Clayton signing could be linked to a possible toe injury to starting running back Fred Taylor. Taylor has been hampered by the injury for a couple of weeks, and it cost him the later portion of last week's game against the Bills. Taylor has yet to practice this week, so Clayton will seemingly be some injury insurance. Hopefully, Taylor can play in Monday's crucial game against the Dolphins. If not, the Patriots will be relying heavily on BenJarvus Green-Ellis for a second straight week.
