Patriots Release Two Defensive Backs

The Patriots have released two of their defensive backs as the team enters their Bye Week. DB Sterling Moore and S Ross Ventrone have been let go. Both players primarily played on the special teams unit. Moore and Ventrone have seen active time due to the large quantity of injuries that have impacted the Patriots secondary.

The Patriots secondary has seen injuries to CB Ras-I Dowling, CB Leigh Bodden, CB Kyle Arrington, S Pat Chung, S Josh Barrett, and S Sergio Brown over the past couple of weeks. Moore and Ventrone provided additional secondary depth as those players regained their health. With the Bye Week on the schedule, the Patriots secondary can have their regular roster members regain their health.

Moore and Ventrone are both practice squad eligible, which means that both could be making a comeback to the squad. However, since there is only one spot available, look for Ventrone to make the squad and Moore to fight Josh Victorian for that final slot.

The Patriots have yet to fill these available roster spots, but look for the team to activate their PUP members with these two slots. Look for the Patriots to pick two of RB Kevin Faulk, DL Ron Brace, and DL Brandon Deaderick.

I wouldn't be surprised if Faulk and Brace make the team and Deaderick sits out.
