I feel like all Patriots related discussion the past few days has been extremely pessimistic. It mostly has. And on the other hand, I feel like we've almost been giving linebacker Brandon Spikes too much applause. Okay, so maybe we have a reason to be pessimistic about the Patriots. And I've been one of the biggest Brandon Spikes supporters, the young linebacker has been arguably the most impactful defender on the Patriots roster the past few weeks.
But anyways, before we officially move on to the Jets, lets take one more quick look at the hit that rocked Giants tight end Jake Ballard, Gillette Stadium, and the television set of every fan watching from home. I literally got phone calls from both my father and my brother - who were both in completely separate area codes after this one. And while I was on the phone with my dad after talking to my brother, my brother was calling my dad. Or something like that. Anyways, enjoy:
Not the best quality, but you get the idea. That has got to be, without a doubt, the hit of the year. Clean, used his shoulder, no helmet-to-helmet. Actually, you've got to give Giants tight end Jake Ballard some credit for holding onto that thing, even if the play still brought up a fourth down.
