From the limited snaps that Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco has received this season, it is pretty obvious that he is a player that still has a lot of talent. While he had zero receptions in five targets, he was able to get open on man coverage and Tom Brady just couldn't get him the ball.
But it's Tom Brady - he's usually a hell of an accurate quarterback. Ochocinco has finally seen his snaps go up in consecutive weeks and for the first time this year, it really seemed like Tom Brady had some trust in him. Hopefully, the two can build upon that trust and get Ochocinco involved in the long haul.
Tom Brady and Deion Branch are the epitome of quarterback-receiver chemistry. The two know exactly where each other will go with the ball/route on every single play. It's really quite astonishing. While Ocho and Tom don't have that type of connection yet, it is possible that Ochocinco can provide the ability to shake tight man coverage that Branch has been lacking somewhat this season.
My gut feeling tells me that on Sunday, the Jets are going to try a lot of pressure schemes and keeping man-to-man press on the Patriots receivers. It's hard to say how the Patriots will counter that press. Receiver Wes Welker will likely face the tough match-up of Darrelle Revis and Deion Branch has frankly struggled to beat tight press this year. Taylor Price, who could act as a deep threat for the Patriots, has been hobbled by a hamstring injury.
Maybe, just maybe this is the week that Chad Ochocinco breaks out for the Patriots.
