Half-time thoughts:

  • The Patriots defense, despite a plethora of injuries, has somehow found a way to have a solid game in the first half.  Players such as Phillip Adams have performed well in coverage, while Andre Carter and Mark Anderson have been terrific in rushing Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.  The Patriots held the Jets scoreless until their last drive of the first half.
  • Early on, the Patriots were able to move the ball against the Jets, but bogged down twice in Jets territory and only got six points out of those drives.  The Patriots run game has been completely non-existent, and while Patriots receivers have been doing a decent job getting open, Tom Brady has been missing some throws.
  • Offensively, the bright spot of the first half was the Patriots two minute drill to take a 13-9 halftime lead.  The Patriots went 80 in 6 plays.  Tight end Rob Gronkowski had two big catches, the second of which was a terrific 18 yard touchdown from Tom Brady.
  • In injury news, the Patriots received another big blow, with cornerback Devin McCourty going down with what looked like a shoulder/arm injury.  Hopefully, the injury isn't as serious as it looked.
