Well, I don't think anyone would have predicted a 0-0 game at halftime, especially considering how poorly the Patriots defense played last week. But that's how this first half went.
Defensively, the Patriots have put together one of their best all-around efforts of the year. Players such as Brandon Deaderick, Albert Haynesworth, and Andre Carter are helping put pressure on Giants quarterback Eli Manning, while the likes of Vince Wilfork, Brandon Spikes, and others have been instrumental in stopping the run. Thus far, the Giants have only 114 total yards, with just 71 coming through the air.
On offense, things have been frustrating for the Patriots. The Patriots had two shots at the end of the half to put the ball in the end zone, and had poor execution on back to back plays. Stephen Gostkowski then missed a chip shot field goal to put the Patriots up 3-0. In addition, the early second quarter interception by Tom Brady also left at least three points on the board.
While the Patriots have certainly done some intriguing things on the defensive side of the ball, if the offense can't get their act together soon, the Patriots could find themselves in trouble.
