Half-time thoughts:

  • Aside from a 1st quarter strip sack by Patriots defensive end that was recovered for a touchdown by defensive tackle Vince Wilfork in the endzone, the Patriots defense has been atrocious. They were able to make one goal line stop, but the secondary, safeties Matt Slater and James Ihedigbo especially, have struggled. Letting up 20 first half points to an offense as inept as the Redskins' is simply unacceptable.
  • Offensively, Tom Brady's accuracy just hasn't been there. The team has moved down the field at will due to big plays from tight end Rob Gronkowski, but have had two drives stall inside the ten yard line, leaving a lot of points on the board. Simply unacceptable execution. The Patriots have had some success running the ball on early downs, but have been killed in time of possession and haven't been consistent in this area because of that.
  • Rob Gronkowski is a best. 'Nuff said.
  • Overall, this is the type of game the Patriots will have every opportunity to win. The scored is tied at 20 and the Patriots have failed to capitalize on some opportunities (drives ending deep in opponent territory, Devin McCourty's interception that was called back). However, with the inconsistent level of play on both sides of the ball, you have to wonder if the Patriots will actually pull this game out.
