Well, this game isn't exactly the blow out many Patriots fans thought it would be. After holding the Colts to a quick three and out to start the game, the Patriots offense managed just a field goal on their opening drive.
The Colts then took back over on offense, and were led by quarterback Dan Orlovsky on a long, 19 play, 68 yard drive that resulted in a field goal to tie the game up at three apiece. The Patriots were consistently victimized on third downs, with Kyle Arrington being targeted multiple times. Fortunately for the Patriots, they were able to hold the Colts to a field goal despite being backed up to their own one with a first and goal.
After trading defensive stops, Patriots quarterback finally led the Patriots on a touchdown drive, converting several third and long throws, despite some questionable play calling on first and second downs. The drive was capped off with a Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski touchdown.
And after holding the Colts to another quick three and out, Brady and the offense moved down the field in the two minute offense to extend the team's lead to 17-3 on another one yard touchdown.
It was a slow start for New England, although the Colts' 10 minute drive has made this game look worse than it actually is for New England. On Indianapolis' other three drives, the New England defense has refused to allow a first down. And on three of New England's first four possessions, the Patriots have put points on the board.
Nonetheless, it would be nice to see the Patriots come out with more of a spark to begin the second half (even when considering the strong finish to the first half).
