Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez Had Hip Surgery

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston is reporting that Patriots rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez underwent hip surgery. Hernandez was utilized less and less throughout the season and he missed the last couple games because of his hip injury. Hernandez was almost a non-factor against the Jets in the playoffs, which means a lot because two of his biggest games during the regular season were against the Jets.

Hernandez looks to be a large part of the Patriots' offense for years to come so it's important that he remain in top shape. He finished his rookie season third on the Patriots in receptions, yards, yards after the catch, and touchdowns received. If he is able to make the sophomore jump, Hernandez could see a large increase in production. Fingers crossed.

It's unfortunate to hear that he required surgery and we wish him the best on his road to recovery! He was definitely missed against the Jets, so let's hope he can get through next season without a major injury.
