Report: Allen Bailey to Visit Patriots

According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, the New England Patriots are scheduled to hold a pre-draft vsit with Miami defensive lineman Allen Bailey.

Interest continues to build in University of Miami defensive lineman Allen Bailey as he's scheduled to visit the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Bailey is definitely on the radar of the NFC South champion Falcons as he's also set to conduct a private workout for them.

Per a source, Bailey is going to be visited in Miami by an NFL head coach and general manager.

The powerful 6-foot-3, 285-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.71 seconds at the NFL scouting combine and registered a 36 1/2 inch vertical leap, a 9-9 broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 27 times.

Having Bailey visit is certainly very intriguing to me.  After all, Bill Belichick has already personally visited the Miami campus, and not only held a private workout with Bailey, but held a film room session with him and a few other Hurricane players.  With Bailey now scheduled to visit the Patriots, it certainly shows some serious interest from the Patriots' standpoint.

Bailey is projected to go anywhere from the late first round to mid second round of April's draft.  The major question with Bailey is his potential fit with the Patriots.  Bailey could play a pass rushing defensive tackle role, 3-4 right end, or possibly even 3-4 outside linebacker in an elephant role.  His versatility certainly has got to be intriguing to the team.  A few weeks ago, I compared Bailey to Jarvis Green.  Although some of their traits are similar, Bailey has far superior athleticism.
