According to Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald, the Patriots recently hosted former Pittsburgh defensive end/outside linebacker Greg Romeus on a Pre-draft visit to Gillette Stadium
Romeus, who stands at 6'5" and weighs at 264 lbs, was projected by many as a first round pick entering the 2010 season. Unfortunately for Romeus, he suffered knee and back injuries that limited to just two games last season.
However, as a junior, Romeus had a terrific season, showing that he can get after the quarterback with eight sacks. He has terrific size and length for a 3-4 outside linebacker, and while his change of direction skills are not the best, he could be an option at that position. He's still raw, having played just one year of high school football. He still needs to develop his pass rushing repertoire and learn to set the edge consistently. However, if the Patriots are looking for a risk/reward player in the third or fourth round at outside linebacker, Romeus could be that guy.
Similarly, the Patriots brought in Brandon Tate for a pre-draft visit before selecting him in the third round in 2009. Tate had also missed most of his senior season with a Torn ACL. The Patriots are likely interested in Romeus, but probably are bringing him into the facilities for a final medical check.
