Belichick-Era Patriots Top 10 Busts #8
Name: Adrian Klemm
College: Hawaii
Drafted: 2nd round, 46th overall, 2000
Position: Tackle/guard
Years with Team: 5
Where is he now? Offensive line coach for SMU
Comments: Adrian Klemm was Bill Belichick's first ever draft pick with the Patriots, being taken in the second round at 46th overall. After starting his career on the PUP list, Adrian Klemm came in and started games at guard and tackle as a rookie, playing in a total of five games (four games started). He missed the 2001 season with injury, played in 16 games with three starts in 2002. In 2003, he played and started in two games. In 2004, he played in two games before ending the season on injured reserve. In Klemm's five years with the team, he earned three Super Bowl rings, but never played a playoff game. He was slightly below average when he actually played, and there's no question that injuries really hampered him throughout his career. It's hard to name him the #8 bust because I've met him personally and really like him as a person (a real class act), but there's no question that when a mid-second round pick produces as little as Klemm did, you are going to be labeled a bust.
