Giants Coverage: Big Blue View
Tonight, the New England Patriots will host the New York Giants in the team's preseason finale.
While the Patriots typically don't have their starters suit up for the final game, I think that the fact that many starters didn't play the preseason opener and the fact that the team struggled so much last week could mean that Tom Brady and co. actually do get to play a couple of series.
But aside from that, tonight's game will mostly be about the young guys trying to fight their way onto the team. The Patriots still have a logjam along the defensive line, and tonight's game will be yet another chance for a player such as Kyle Love, Myron Pryor, or Gerard Warren to prove their worth with the team.
Offensively, running backs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen are fighting to prove that they deserve playing time come the regular season. At receiver, Brandon Tate needs to show something to warrant keeping around, while players such as Taylor Price, Deion Branch, and Chad Ochocinco all look to get into a groove. The Patriots' offensive line will also be looking to rebound following their abysmal performance last week against the Lions' vaunted defensive line.
All-in-all, this looks like a game where the team's back-ups will see a lot of run, but some of the starters may get a chance to play and get the bad taste from the Detroit game out of their mouth's.
