Seahawks, Patriots Trade Big Plays in 1st: Seattle Up 10-7

New, comments

1st quarter update as the Seahawks lead the Patriots 10-7 after one quarter in Seattle.

In somewhat of a surprise, the 1st quarter of the Patriots-Seahawks game has been all about offense and big plays, with Seattle leading New England 10-7 after one.

A Brandon Spikes run stuff on third down in the red zone held the Seahawks to a field goal on their opening drive. The Patriots took back over, and passed the ball all six plays on their next drive. Quarterback Tom Brady hooked up with Brandon Lloyd on a 20 yard gain down the left sideline, then Wes Welker burned safety Earl Thomas on a 46 yard touchdown up the seam to cap off the drive.

On the ensuing drive, the Patriots defense continued to be shred by Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson completed two throws to Doug Baldwin for 74 yards, including a 24 yard touchdown to finish the drive. Patriots cornerback Kyle Arrington was beat on both of those plays. The Patriots aren't containing Russell Wilson, and he's making them pay by making plays on his feet.

The Patriots have the ball and are driving to begin the second quarter.
