Patriots Take 14-7 Lead over Jets After One

First quarter thoughts as the Patriots lead the Jets 14-7 headed into the second quarter.

After one quarter in Foxboro, the New England Patriots hold a 14-7 lead over the New York Jets.

The Patriots surrendered an opening drive touchdown to the Jets offense, with New England being victimized on two long passing plays to Jeremy Kerley. The drive was capped off with a one yard Shonn Green touchdown run.

However, New England would quickly respond, with cornerback Devin McCourty taking the ensuing kickoff 104 yards to the house. It was the Patriots' first kick return touchdown since Brandon Tate in 2010.

Following that score, the Patriots defense stiffened, stopping the Jets on their next two drives.

The Patriots got things going on offense late in the quarter. Going down the field in seven plays (58 yards) to take a 14-7 lead. The drive was finished off with a Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski touchdown throw in the left corner of the end zone.

The Patriots currently have the ball and are driving to begin the second quarter.
