The New England Patriots, through 30 minutes, are playing their best overall game of the year.
Things started shaky, with the team allowing a touchdown to the Rams on the opening drive of the game. The score rang a familiar tune - as the Patriots surrendered another big play, this one being a 50 yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to Chris Givens. Tavon Wilson, responsible for a deep half of the field, was victimized on the play.
From that point on, however, it was all Patriots. In total, in the first half, the Patriots possessed the ball four times. All four of those possessions resulted in touchdown drives. The passing offense is clicking, and the running game has provided a nice compliment. Tom Brady has had one of his best games of the year, going 14/22 for two touchdowns in the first half. Rob Gronkowski has also had a monstrous performance - snagging five catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Of course, the Patriots have struggled to close out games all year long, and they haven't exactly been stellar defending the pass today - Rams QB Sam Bradford went 14-16, and connecting on his only real deep try of the game. The Patriots get the ball to start the second half, and I have a feeling they'll be wanting to finish this game off.
