Patriots Offense Rolling, Take 17-7 Halftime Lead over Broncos

The Patriots offense is on a roll, scoring on three consecutive long scoring drives to close out the first half - and the team is taking a 17-7 lead over the Broncos into the third quarter as a result.

Quarterback Tom Brady has been prolific all afternoon, completing 17 of 20 first half passes for 165 yards and a first quarter touchdown to Wes Welker. Speaking of Welker, he's been unstoppable as well, reeling in nine catches for 71 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. Brady's protection has been pretty stellar, and the no huddle offense has been at its best. Running back Stevan Ridley has also done a solid job, chipping in 70 yards on 13 carries thus far.

Nonetheless, the team has to be disappointed that they couldn't punch the ball into the end zone late in the first half, being stuffed on consecutive runs after a second and goal from the one.

Defensively, the Patriots have done a solid job shutting down the Broncos' offense - aside from allowing a couple of long passing plays, and the Devin McCourty pass interference that set up a Peyton Manning to Joel Dreesen one yard touchdown.

The Patriots will get the ball to start the second half.
