According to multiple sources, Rob Gronkowski broke his forearm on the final extra point of the Patriots 59-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He was seen heading into the locker room late in the game for X Rays, and initial rumors have it as a fairly serious break that will sideline Gronk for up to six weeks.
Maybe the reports are wrong, and maybe Gronk will be able to bounce back sooner than expected, but this injury couldn't have come at a worse time. If Gronk is in fact out for six weeks, that has him missing the rest of the regular season and having to shake off all kinds of rust in time for the playoffs. Also, with Aaron Hernandez still out as he nurses an ankle injury, that leaves the Patriots without two of their top receiving threats. Losing Gronk will likely hurt the run game as well, as he is one of the better blocking tight ends in the game and is absolutely lethal in the playaction.
Let's hope that Gronk comes back quickly. And let's hope that Aaron Hernandez is ready to go against the Jets in just a few short days.
Even when the Patriots win big, I can't fully enjoy it.
