In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'll take my chances and say that the New England Patriots are very thankful that Mark Sanchez is the quarterback of the New York Jets.
Sanchez is just one bad quarterback—the Jets should have given up on him months ago.
With Sanchez doing his typical thing, which is absolutely stinking up the joint, the Patriots were able to run the Jets right out of the building on Thanksgiving night at the Meadowlands with an impressive 49-19 victory.
With the win, the Patriots improve to 8-3 while the Jets drop to 4-7.
In that spirit, let's take a look at what we learned from New England's 49-19 victory over the New York Jets.
1. Julian Edelman is a play-maker
After Julian Edelman's incredible performance last week against the Indianapolis Colts, he picked up right where he left off against he Jets.
Edelman might have left the game in the third quarter with a concussion, but he certainly had a major impact on the game. He recorded two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown as well as recovering a fumble on a kickoff and returning it for yet another touchdown.
I can only hope that Edelman recovers just fine from this concussion and is back on the field as soon as possible because he's really impressed me as a play-maker as of late.
2. Stevan Ridley continue to adds a new dimension to this offense
We all know that New England hasn't had a true running game since Corey Dillon back in 2004, but with the emergence of Stevan Ridley this season, the Patriots have been able to run the ball as they please.
Ridely ran for 97 yards on 21 carries while punching in one touchdown as well as averaging a solid 4.6 yards per-carry.
All in all, the second-year running back out of LSU has been a huge asset for New England's offense this season.
3. Shane Vereen needs to be incorporated in this offense much more
All I have to say is that once Shane Vereen gets the ball in space, he'll likely end up scoring a touchdown—he's just that elusive.
Vereen's biggest play of the night came at 9:43 in the second quarter when Tom Brady found him for an 83 yard touchdown strike.
Vereen finished Thursday's game with 42 rushing yards on 10 carries as well as two receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown.
4. Mark Sanchez is putrid
I think it's time for the Jets to move on without Mark Sanchez—he simply isn't what they were hoping he was going to be.
Sanchez just hasn't developed into an NFL starting quarterback. He's awful.
Sanchez had a "deer in the headlights" look all night long as he finished with two sacks as well as one interception and being able to only muster three first-half points against the Patriots.
5. New England's offense cannot be stopped
Ever since New England's 45-7 offensive explosion against the St. Louis Rams in London back in Week 8, the Patriots have averaged an incredible 47.5 points per-game.
You simply cannot lose football games when you're putting up points like that.
New England's offensive was as productive as ever Thursday against the Jets as the group finished with 475 total yards as well as scoring an incredible three touchdowns in just a matter of 52 seconds.
What does this mean? You do not want to face Tom Brady and the Patriots right now.
6. Bill Belichick now has 200 career wins
Bill Belichick became the eight head coach in NFL history to reach 200 career victories.
There's no doubt in my mind that winning 49-19 against the New York Jets wouldn't be the best way for Belichick to record his 200th career victory.
