Aaron Wilson of Scout.com is reporting that the New England Patriots recently held a private workout with Bethune Cookman's defensive end / outside linebacker Ryan Davis. According to Wilson, the Cardinals, Jaguars, and Giants are other teams that Davis has worked out for.
Davis is a real sleeper prospect as a pass rushing threat and could be given consideration late on day three of the draft. He stands at just over 6'2" and 259 lbs, and recently ran a 4.79 40 yard dash at Miami U's Pro Day (local prospect who was invited). Davis backed that number up with 4.45 second 20 yard shuttle, and a 7.45 in the 3-cone drill.
In 2011 at Bethune Cookman, Ryan Davis recorded 12 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss. He was initially recruited to Bethune Cookman as a wide receiver prospect.
If you'd like to read more on Davis, Damond Talbot of Mocking the Draft has a great write-up on him. Overall, he seems like a real sleeper prospect who could be worth a shot late, maybe in the mold of Markell Carter.
