Football is back, people! Well, at least technically it is...
While it's been quite a battle for me personally since the Super Bowl loss to the Giants, my complete attention will be back on football on Thursday night as the New England Patriots will make two first round picks at No. 27 and No. 31 in the 2012 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall in NYC.
The top two selections in the draft appear to be set, as the Indianapolis Colts are expected to take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall selection and the Washington Redskins will take Heisman winning quarterback Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 pick. After that, it's a wide open field for everyone else in the NFL.
For the Patriots, it appears that everyone believes they'll be targeting defensive reinforcements in the first round. At this point, I see them taking two pass rushers with these selections. Specifically, I see them taking OLB Shea McClellin from Boise State at No. 27 and DE Nick Perry out of USC at No. 31. But who am I to predict what Bill Belichick will do? He could trade up for home runs like Mark Barron, Stephon Gilmore, Courtney Upshaw or Luke Kuechly. Or, as he's done in the past, hoodie could trade out for a plethora of picks later on. You just never know with him.
Happy draft day to all!
