According to sources close to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, the New England Patriots have reached an agreement with rookie defensive end Jake Bequette on a four-year deal. Bequette was selected No. 90 overall by the Pats in this past April's NFL Draft.
The 23-year old Bequette capped his collegiate career at the University of Arkansas with 23.5 sacks, 10 of which came last year during his senior year. He performed well enough to be named to the always-difficult-to-make All-SEC team his senior year. His 6-5, 274 pound frame gives the Patriots the ability to use him as an edge rusher on the line or as an outside linebacker.
Bequette becomes the seventh of eight New England draft picks to come to terms. Second first round selection Dont'a Hightower now stands as the only Patriot rookie to not have a contract agreement in place. However, with Bequette agreeing to terms Thursday, one can think that the former Alabama linebacker is soon to follow.
