Although New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker didn't receive the contract extension that he wanted, he was able to get sweet consolation prize. A nice new hairdo.
In a press release, the Patriots All-Pro receiver said that he received a hair transplant in early July with the help of Dr. Robert Leonard. Welker, who's starting to lose some of his hair at age 31, decided to make the move. After all, he's a married man now! Welker had this to say about the procedure and the good doctor:
"When I was considering hair transplantation I knew that I wanted to work with the best in the field and that is why I chose Dr. Robert Leonard," Welker said in a press release. "Dr. Leonard has a tremendous reputation and his knowledge and expertise helped put my mind at ease throughout the process."
According to Leonard, he performed a procedure that "involved transplanting follicles in an area of (his) scalp where the hair had started to thin."
Word on the street is that Welker will indeed be ready for Patriots training camp on Thursday.
This is why we love Wes.
