On Friday, the New England Patriots embarked on their second day of training camp practices. Let's take a look at some quick hit comments that were made by Patriots players during media availability.
Rookie Linebacker Dont'a Hightower On Working With And Learning From Jerod Mayo
"As a linebacker, I feel like most linebackers have the mentality that they want to come in and they want to make a big impact," Hightower said. "Me talking to him and asking him how he did things as a rookie and how he did things like that, that's going to help me out the best. I just want to do what I can whether it's on special teams or defense to contribute to this team."
Cornerback Ras-I Dowling On Coming Back Following An Injury-Plagued Rookie Season
"It's just great being out here. I'm trying to compete every day, being out here with the guys. It's a good feeling," said Dowling, who has put last season behind him. "Last year is last year. Right now is the present. I'm focused on right now, this season, this training camp. Day-by-day is all I can focus on."
Newly Acquired Tight End Visanthe Shiancoe On Transitioning Into His New Team
"Everything's been going smooth," Shiancoe said. "Good transition, well, ‘transitioning,' I should say. I'm just ready to work."

Veteran Safety James Ihedigbo On Progression At The Safety Position
"You know we have a great group of guys that I like to be around," Ihedigbo said. "We're just going to continue working. It's so early on in camp to see where we're at. We just got to put our heads down and keep working. When the lights shine at the end of the tunnel, we'll know where we'll be."
Ryan Mallett On Being Close To Longtime Friend Will Middlebrooks Of The Red Sox
"It's something we always talked about when we were little," Mallett said. "Didn't know how realistic it would be. Then we got older and ended up getting drafted to the same city so, it's not bad."
