Rob Gronkowski Injury Update: Tight End Expected Back Against Saints

New, comments

ProFootballTalk.com reports that Rob Gronkowski is expected to return to action for the Patriots this weekend against the Saints.

US PRESSWIRE

It’s been over five weeks since New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski began to practice, and we’ve all been at a loss as to when he would make his return to actual game action. It appears we have an answer. Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Gronkowski is expecting to be cleared for this Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints:

The Patriots are finally about to get Rob Gronkowski back.

Gronkowski, the tight end who has missed the first five weeks of the season while recovering from back surgery, is expected to be cleared to play this week, a league source tells PFT. While it’s not definite that he’ll play, it’s likely.

The final decision will be made later in the week, with Dr. James Andrews in charge of the decision-making process.

The timing couldn’t be better for the Patriots, as they are coming off their worst performance on offense this season, and in recent memory. Whether or not Gronkowski is the savior for this offense is a debate for another day. For now, Patriots fans can rejoice that their team’s biggest threat on offense should be back.
