Well, the Patriots finally played a respectable first half of football as they lead the Miami Dolphins 10-7 after 30 minutes in week 15.
Defensively, the Patriots have been playing their best football in quite some time... at least for the first 29 minutes. In the first 29 minutes, the unit played the run well, got after Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, and didn't have any coverage breakdowns. This, in itself, are big accomplishments considering the unit's performance the last several weeks.
On offense, quarterback Tom Brady was sharp and the protection was solid. The Patriots played clock control on offense and never took any big shots down the field. Brady spread the ball around to the likes of Julian Edelman, Josh Boyce, and Danny Amendola.
The Patriots' lone touchdown of the day thus far was a beautiful one handed catch by tight end Michael Hoomanawanui in the end zone with a defender draped all over him. On the play, Brady showed beautiful pocket awareness in stepping up over a collapsing Dolphins' rusher and delivering the throw where only Hoomanawanui could get it.
Now, the Patriots need to finish with a similar second half to the one they have had for the last several weeks. There's no letting up. They will get the ball to start the second half.
