The New England Patriots are leading the Buffalo Bills at halftime 16-3 after a monster first half from running back LeGarrette Blount.
Blount has picked up 118 yards on 15 carries. He's hit the hole hard, and he's driven the pile tremendously after first contact. His big half was capped by a 36-yard second quarter touchdown that was sprung by a beautiful cut. He did have a fumble in the red zone late in the first half, but it was recovered by the Patriots.
The defense has also been big thus far. They've allowed a couple of big runs of 16+ yards, but have remained disciplined in that part of the game for the most part, doing a good job of winning the battle up front and setting the edge. Bills quarterback Thad Lewis hasn't challenged the Patriots secondary much, throwing just 8 passes and completing 3 of them.
It was a solid first half for the Patriots considering the heavy downpour. It would be nice to see the Patriots offense click a little bit more in the second half, as it seemed like the only thing they could get going was Brady to Edelman less than five yards down the field.
The Broncos are destroying the Raiders which means that the Patriots are likely down to the #2 or #4 seed. They win, they get the #2 seed and the bye. They lose, and they drop to #4 and they will host the Chiefs in the wildcard round next weekend.
The Bills will get the football to start the second half.
