It looks like there is some truth to those Josh McDaniels to the Browns rumors after all. According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the New England Patriots have granted permission to the Browns to interview their offensive coordinator for their vacant Head Coaching position.

As you’ve probably heard about ten-thousand times already, the Browns and Josh McDaniels would be an intriguing fit due to General Manager Mike Lombardi’s ties to McDaniels and the Patriots organization.

Last year, when the Browns were reportedly interested in McDaniels, he declined to interview for any head coaching vacancies. But now, a little over two years since returning to New England, the timing could be right for McDaniels. This is a team that has some intriguing playmakers and talent on both sides of the ball, a front office that is desperate for anyone with Patriots ties, and an opportunity for a new head coach to bring in their own quarterback.

We’ll continue to update this story as more details emerge.
