I drafted some studs in Rob Gronkowski and Chandler Jones. I drafted some athletic upside in Ras-I Dowling, Mark Harrison, and Nate Ebner.
You know what this team needs to win a championship?
Some leadership and some heart.
The offense has Tom Brady, so you know they're going to be fine. But what about on defense? Who's going to step up and lead the charge and build fires under each player until they have the will to win? Jerod Mayo and Devin McCourty are both off the board.
But you know who's left? Oh yeah. The big man. Papa Vince Wilfork.
And this ain't no scheme to sell jerseys (looking at you Alec). This is based on pure football skill and what he brings to the table.
On defense, Wilfork can move quite literally anyone in this game out of the way. There's no way to block him. Brady will have 3 seconds and that is it. No additional time to move around, Wilfork will eat his cookies before Brady has a chance to make a play and scramble. No one will be running against Wilfork either.
And in coverage? And how can you argue with his form coverage tackles to disengage the football? Or his soft hands? Or dropping into coverage? You just know that Donald Jones and Adam's team doesn't stand a chance.
Play him on offense and you might think Vince is a fish out of water. But really, you don't think he can catch a few passes? At the very least, he can block anyone who might think of rushing Brady and give the receivers some extra time to get open. Heck, he can just bulldoze paths for Ebner to walk into the end zone on running plays.
Wilfork will be a locker room leader and his play on the field will spell "C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N" for my team.
