There are much more important things to focus on right now than the legal woes of a former Patriot, but it would be remiss if we didn't at least touch on the latest in the Aaron Hernandez saga.
Earlier today, Hernandez was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Odin Lloyd. He was also indicted on five separate weapons counts. Hernandez was initially scheduled to appear in court earlier today for a probable cause hearing, but merely an hour before that hearing was set, the Massachusetts grand jury came back with the charges. Based on the evidence that has been piling up against him since his arrest, the indictment comes as no surprise whatsoever.
Hernandez is pleading not guilty to all charges against him, and his lawyers remain "confident" that he will be fully exonerated. If convicted, Hernandez could face life in prison.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to pay attention to how this trial unfolds, but at the end of the day the Patriots have moved on, and so have I. Time to get back to focusing on tonight's matchup against the Lions.
