There have been a few conflicting reports regarding the health of Danny Amendola over the past few days. Some claimed that he had a sports hernia and would need surgery; others claimed that he was merely experiencing some soreness and would be back within the next 2-6 weeks. Amendola was spotted at practice yesterday, and while he was limited and clearly running gingerly, the fact that he was out there seemed to point to his not needing to go under the knife.
Today, the Boston Herald reported that Amendola will not in fact be undergoing surgery, and that the timetable for his return remains at a few weeks. He is unlikely to dress this weekend against the Buccaneers, but it would seem that he'll be returning to the team sooner rather than later. How active he is in practice is something to monitor over the next few days, but hopefully New England will have both Amendola and Gronk back just in time for a tough stretch of their schedule.
