The Patriots opened the first quarter with the ball, and despite picking up a pair of first downs on Tom Brady to Danny Amendola throws, couldn't score on the opening drive of the season.
However, Kyle Arrington stripped the ball from Bills running back C.J. Spiller on Buffalo's opening drive, and the ball was recovered by Tommy Kelly for the Patriots. Two plays later, Tom Brady connected with Danny Amendola in the back of the end zone for a nine yard score to put the Patriots up 7-0.
The Patriots also tacked on a 48 yard field goal. Penalties have hurt the Bills, who have failed to generate consistent momentum on offense. The Patriots have also done a good job slowing down C.J. Spiller. Alfonzo Dennard had a strong first quarter in coverage.
After one quarter, the Patriots have the football and are moving down the field following a long Stevan Ridley run.
