2014 Patriots vs Colts: Friday Injury Report

Breaking down what's broken.

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Patriots injuries:

WR Aaron Dobson (Foot)  DNP OUT - This is a big hurt for the Patriots, but they've gotten used to playing well without the rookie. If the Patriots move on, he should hopefully be ready to go.

CB Alfonzo Dennard (Knee/Shoulder) Limited Questionable - Dennard is dinged up pretty badly and should be considered the 4th cornerback on the roster, behind Aqib Talib, Logan Ryan, and Kyle Arrington.

WR Kenbrell Thompkins (Hip) Limited Questionable - Thompkins should take the X receiver role and see a few targets. Don't be too excited for a big game, though, as he's been fairly limited in recent weeks.

CB Kyle Arrington (Groin) Limited Probable - Arrington would have been tagged as the slot corner to defend T.Y. Hilton, but his groin might make him less than ideal in coverage.

LB Dane Fletcher (Groin) Limited Probable - Fletcher will be the 3rd LB, next to Dont'a Hightower and Jamie Collins. No questions.

S Steve Gregory (Finger/Knee) Limited Probable - Gregory is a leader on the defense and will be ready to start.

G Logan Mankins (Ankle) Limited Probable - No question that Mankins is going to play and probably knock some people over.

Devin McCourty (Concussion) Limited Probable - McCourty's had three weeks to heal up from the concussion and he should be as good as ever. His level of play is paramount to a Patriots victory.

OT Will Svitek (Ankle) Limited Probable - Depth, but should be available.

RB Shane Vereen (Groin) Limited Probable - Vereen's seen his role dwindle with the emergence of LeGarrette Blount, but don't be surprised if the Patriots try to take advantage of the Colts LBs poor coverage skills.

WR Danny Amendola and QB Tom Brady were both full participants, but were listed on the report.

Colts Injuries:

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Hamstring) DNP OUT - Led to the signing of Deion Branch. Wasn't going to be much of a factor in the first place.

Heyward-Bey is the only player on their injury report that wasn't a full participant.

---

The Patriots always have the most in-depth injury report, but it can't really be called "gamesmanship"; the Patriots are just that nicked up. Don't be surprised if Dennard and Svitek are inactive tomorrow, but I honestly can't see any of the listed Patriots not being ready to go.

If I had to project the Patriots inactives, it would include:

WR Aaron Dobson (OUT)

TE D.J. Williams - James Develin is the fullback, Williams still new to the team

OG Chris Barker - per usual

DT Isaac Sopoaga - due to the superior play of Sealver Siliga

DE Jake Bequette - per usual

CB Alfonzo Dennard - last minute due to rain

SS Kanorris Davis - numbers game; someone has to sit.
