AFC Divisional Playoffs Game Thread: Chargers vs. Broncos

Open thread and prediction for the Chargers vs. Broncos AFC Divisional Playoff match-up.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

With the 49ers cruising to a road victory over the Carolina Panthers, just one match-up remains before championship weekend is set.

This afternoon, the sixth seeded San Diego Chargers will travel to Denver to take on the first seed Broncos squad. The game kicks off at 4:40 PM ET on CBS.

After defeating the Colts 43-22 yesterday, the New England Patriots will play the winner of this game. If the Broncos win, the Patriots travel to Denver. If the Chargers win, the Patriots will play them as they host the AFC Championship for the third straight year.

As for this game, Patriots fans should be pulling for the Chargers. As awesome as it would be to see another Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady playoff match-up, the opportunity to host an AFC Championship is just too sweet. And while I will be cheering for this resurgent Chargers squad, I don't see them pulling off the upset. I think it will be relatively close, but I'm just not sure that Mike McCoy can put together another game plan to slow down Peyton Manning and the Denver offense. Greg's Prediction: Broncos 34 Chargers 24
