Sports Illustrated has chosen LeGarrette Blount as the front man on their national cover for this week's issue as we head into the NFL championship games.
As the weather has gotten colder, LeGarrette Blount has gotten hotter. He rushed 16 times for 76 yards (4.8 YPC) and 2 TDs against Baltimore in week 16. To cap the season, he rushed 24 times for 189 yards (7.9 YPC) and 2 TDs against the Bills in week 17. Once the playoff's started, he added 24 carries for 166 yards (6.9 YPC and 4 TDs against the Colts in the divisional round. Those yards and carries tied Curtis Martin's playoff high for the Patriots. Martin couldn't touch the 4 TDs though. In fact, no running back in the NFL had ever rushed for over 150 yards and 4 TD's in the same game before Blount.
In addition to the national cover, Sports Illustrated has two regional covers. One features the Seahawks defense, and the other features Broncos receiver Wes Welker.
