The New England Patriots lost their top two defensive backs to injury in their week five match-up against the Cincinnati Bengals.
In the second quarter, safety Devin McCourty went down with a rib injury and has not returned to the game. Safety Duron Harmon came into the game in his place and the Patriots have been left susceptible to the deep ball since. He was announced as questionable to return.
Darrelle Revis went down with an apparent hamstring injury late in the third quarter. As he was walking back to the locker room, his replacement, Logan Ryan, allowed a long touchdown pass to A.J. Green.
The Patriots still have a big lead in this one, but if the Patriots lose either Revis or McCourty for a long stretch, there could be serious issues going forward in the secondary.
We'll have further updates on both Revis and Edelman as soon as we hear anything.
Update: Darrelle Revis has returned to the game. So we're just waiting on McCourty now.
Update 2: McCourty is"expected to be OK" after initial tests didn't show any breaks.
