The Patriots have until 4 PM today to make two roster moves to active suspended cornerback Brandon Browner and wide receiver Brian Tyms. The Patriots have also stated a desire to bring receiver Kenbrell Thompkins to the practice squad.
Then there's this ominous tweet from rookie fourth round pick James White:
God's plan is greater than our own. Just keep believing!
This is a tweet generally saved for those football players involved in a roster transaction. It's all speculation at this point, but the timing is certainly odd. White played extremely well in garbage time against the Chiefs last week.
It would be weird to see the Patriots moving on from a rookie fourth round pick, but perhaps there's an injury involved, or something else at play.
It's likely that the Patriots will move rookie Malcolm Butler to make space for Browner, with a chance of Butler taking Daxton Swanson's spot on the practice squad. This would make the most sense as a 1-for-1-for-1 move.
Tyms, on the other hand, might not even make the roster. He was never involved in the preseason with Brady and there's a chance that the Patriots might opt to try and sign him to the practice squad. Of course, he'd have to go through waivers and, again, the odds of the Patriots getting Tyms and Thompkins both through waivers is slim- and the fact that Josh Boyce is currently on the practice squad means the team would be receiver heavy.
Stay posted. There looks to be interesting moves on the horizon.
