2015 NFL Mock Draft: SB Nation has Patriots selecting RB Melvin Gordon

In the latest SB Nation mock draft, Dan Kadar has the Patriots selecting Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.

Although the New England Patriots are in the midst of jockeying for a playoff bye in the AFC, it is never too early to talk the NFL Draft. That being said, Dan Kadar of SB Nation’s Mocking the Draft has released his latest 2015 mock, and he has the Patriots selecting Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon:

Leave it to Bill Belichick to break the trend of no running backs getting picked in the first round. Jonas Gray had a great game Sunday night against the Colts, but the opportunity to draft a bigger Jamaal Charles is too good to ignore. Especially when that guy helps his team run for a skyscraper's length.

Gordon, of course, just broke the NCAA’s all-time single game rushing record with a 408 yard, four touchdown performance… in three quarters. Most scouts now have him as the number one running back available next May, ahead of Todd Gurley.

At the tail end of the first round, Gordon could very well be available. But with Jonas Gray breaking out, Tyler Gaffney entering the mix, James White entering his second year, and Shane Vereen and/or Stevan Ridley possibly returning, would the value match the need?
