The Patriots are likely adding another capable player to their rushing attack.
According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, former Patriots and Steelers running back LeGarrette Blount is at the Patriots' facility this morning, and is expected to sign with the team:

The Steelers released Blount earlier in the week after he left their Monday Night Football game early, after becoming frustrated in his role. After his release, many speculated that Blount could return to the team, even if it did seem like a bit of a longshot.
Blount signed with the Steelers in the offseason after spending the 2013 season with the Patriots. He emerged as the Patriots' starter down the stretch, although the team opted not to match the Steelers' offer for him this past Spring.
Blount will join a backfield that includes Jonas Gray, Shane Vereen, rookie James White, and fullback James Develin. How he fits in remains to be seen, but in all liklihood, he will split some early down reps with Gray.
