According to Football Scoop, the Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is on a list of candidates for the University of Florida's head coaching position. The Gators are in need for a new head coach and they're looking for someone who can add some offensive pizzazz.
McDaniels could possibly follow in the footsteps of Bill O'Brien, his coordinator predecessor and successor, who left the Patriots to take a head coaching spot at Penn State, before making it back to the NFL with the Houston Texans.
The Florida Gators have been a mess since Urban Meyer left for health reasons and if McDaniels could turn the team around and make them back into a conference powerhouse, he'll definitely be back in the conversation for top NFL coaching positions. Of course, the SEC is mostly known for its defenses, so McDaniels will have a difficult road should he make the move.
As of now, this is just the Gators doing their due diligence; per Football Scoop no offer is imminent. But you can be certain that McDaniels would leave with high praise from Bill Belichick and it's likely that Brian Daboll would be next in line for the offensive coordinator position.
