Earlier in the year, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was linked to the San Francisco 49ers head coaching position. The 49ers have requested permission to interview him for the opening.
It turns out they're not the only team interested. The Atlanta Falcons have reached out as well:
The #Falcons have requested permission to speak with #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, source says.

The #Falcons aren’t alone for #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. I’m told the #49ers have also requested permission to interview him.

While McDaniels was linked to the 49ers back in 2011, the Falcons are a new candidate. They're run by former Patriots front office personnel Thomas Dimitroff and Scott Pioli, which means there's a clear link between the teams.
It's likely that McDaniels will wait one more season with the Patriots prior to venturing into a new head coaching role, but it's also extremely apparent that he's one of the top candidates on the market.
